Get set for the third lifestyle pickup in India — Mahindra Scorpio X. That’s right, Mahindra has trademarked the Scorpio X nameplate in India, which will most likely be the Global Pik Up concept showcased last year. This is no surprise, as the Mahindra Getaway pickup was already sold in India earlier.
However, unlike the older-generation Scorpio Getaway, the new Scorpio X will be based on the Scorpio N, which is underpinned by a monocoque chassis rather than a ladder frame unit that was the base for the older Getaway.
In terms of power, the new Scorpio X will have a diesel engine with a part-time four-wheel-drive function, however, it is not clear if the engine will be available in two states of tune like the Scorpio N, or only with the range-topping 172bhp engine.
When launched, the new Mahindra Scorpio X will compete with the Isuzu V-Cross and the Toyota Hilux, however, it could be priced less than the two, making it an interesting option in the category.
