Lexus is hell-bent on making an impression on the Indian market, and to that, they have confirmed that they will be bringing their range-topping LS sedan to India on January 15th, 2018. What’s even more interesting is the fact that they will be entering the Indian market with the hybrid LS called the 500h. The original LS first made its debut in 1989 as Lexus flagship and has been one of the key products in Lexus’s product portfolio. India bound LS first made its debut at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. and this model has changed up the game, in order to compete with the likes of the 7-series and the S-Class, it ditches the old design which was a tad boring, for a more dynamic outlook featuring the hour-glass shaped grill and sharper edges.

The interior too gets a redesign that moves away from what Lexus usually does, and damn does it look good. More screens with readouts replace a plethora of buttons. The cabin will, of course, be made of the best of materials. Its likely the front seats will be adjustable to 28-settings with heating cooling and massage functions. However, Lexus has put their entire focus on the rear seats which will get Maybach rivalling quality. Lexus also claims that the LS will get active noise suppression which will make the Lexus quieter than ever before.

The LS 500h which gets the hybrid system will be powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol motor along with two electric motors which will bring the total power output on the LS to 345hp. Power will make it to rear-wheels through an e-CVT transmission. It is likely that the Lexus LS500h will make it to India through the CBU route which means the price tag is likely to be more Maybach than S-Class, at 1.5 crores (est)
