Kia is gearing up to launch its Carens Clavis EV later this month on July 15 which will be the company’s first mass-market EV in India. Ahead of its launch, Kia has taken its major step towards advancing electric mobility in India by developing a robust and integrated EV ecosystem for its customers.
Kia K-Charge platform details
The South Korean carmaker says this initiative is designed to make EV ownership seamless, worry-free, and practical for Kia buyers across India. Called the K-Charge platform, Kia plans to address common concerns related to EV ownership with this new ecosystem. This new platform seamlessly integrates within the MyKia app, offering access to a fast-growing network of over 11,000 charging points across India in collaboration with 18 leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs).
This encompasses both urban and highway routes, catering to daily commutes as well as long-distance travel. Enhancing this convenience, Kia’s ‘EV Route Planner’—available via the official Kia website and the MyKia App—enables users to locate charging stations, check real-time slot availability, and make payments directly within the app. This streamlines the charging process and eliminates reliance on multiple third-party applications.
Further strengthening the EV ecosystem is Kia’s extensive network of over 250 workshops across India, each equipped with specialized tools, advanced equipment, and certified EV technicians. In addition, more than 100 Kia dealerships are already equipped with DC Fast chargers ranging from 60 kW to 240 kW, allowing customers to conveniently charge their vehicles during regular service visits.
Kia has revealed that it will offer home charging solutions with support for 7.4kW and 11kW AC chargers, delivering flexible and efficient at-home charging options with the upcoming Clavis EV. Moreover, Kia aims to expand access to over 20,000 K-Charge charging points by mid-2026 across the country. By integrating cutting-edge vehicles with a robust charging infrastructure, digital tools, and customer-centric services, the company continues to set new standards in electric mobility.
Kia Carens Clavis EV: Powertrain specs
Kia recently confirmed the Clavis EV to return a range of 490 km on a single charge. We expect Kia to get the same battery options as Creta EV: 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The former is expected to return a range of around 400 km on a full charge. The smaller battery is expected to be paired with a 135 hp electric motor whereas the larger battery pack is expected to power a 171 hp unit.
