Kia launched the Carens Clavis earlier this month and just a couple of days ago, the Korean carmaker revealed the entire price list of the premium MPV. Test mules of the Clavis had been spied on numerous occasions over the past year or so. Besides the petrol and diesel-powered Clavis, Kia is also working on a fully-electric derivative of Clavis for a long time.

A test mule of the Carens Clavis EV has been spied once again somewhere in Andhra Pradesh. The latest spy images reveal some interesting details about the upcoming electric utility vehicle.

Kia Carens Clavis EV: Expected details

The spy pics indicate the addition of a Radar module right under the nose of the Clavis EV. This suggests that like its fossil-fueled counterpart, the all-electric Clavis will also benefit from Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System. Another important visual highlight is the charging flap right on the nose of the vehicle. This is seen in the Hyundai Creta Electric as well.

In fact, the Kia Clavis EV will be based on the same platform as the Creta Electric which is an updated version of the existing architecture underpinning their petrol and diesel-powered counterparts. Coming back to ADAS, the recently-launched Carens Clavis comes with 20 autonomous ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, high beam assist, driver attention warning etc. The same setup is expected to be offered in the upcoming Clavis EV.

In terms of design, the Clavis EV will be almost identical to the ICE-powered Clavis, barring a different branding and new set of aero alloy wheels. The Clavis EV is expected to feature a 26.62-inch dual panoramic display that integrates the touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. Additional highlights may include front ventilated seats, a 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a wireless charging pad, an 8-speaker BOSE Premium sound system, and ambient lighting.

Other safety features expected to be part of the package are tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, dash cam with dual camera and 360° camera with blind view monitor on the cluster. That said, the Clavis EV will boast of two additional features: Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging.

Kia Carens Clavis EV: Expected powertrain

The upcoming Kia Clavis EV is expected to share its battery options with the Creta EV, which offers two capacities: 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The 42kWh variant is paired with a 135hp electric motor, delivering a range of 390km, while the larger 51.4kWh battery powers a 171hp motor and provides a range of up to 473km.
