This is no hidden secret, Hyundai is working on an all-electric version of Creta. Test mules of the SUV have already been spotted on various occasions over the past year or so. Another prototype of the all-electric Creta recently got caught on the cameras. The Creta is a very popular car and the inarguably the primary breadwinner for the Korean carmaker in India.

Therefore, an EV with the Creta’s name and styling definitely makes a lot of sense from a marketing point of view. The latest spy shots show a test mule of the battery-powered Creta completely under wraps, most probably being shot testing in or around Pune, given the vehicle registration.

Hyundai Creta EV: Expected styling

Although it is hard to decipher the exact looks, we expect the Creta EV to look largely similar to its fossil-fueled counterpart. Remember, the Creta received a comprehensive makeover earlier this year with a completely revamped design. This means the all-electric Creta is likely to flaunt a similar split lighting setup up front featuring broken DRL elements on top and projector LED headlights on the bumper.

The headlamps flank a sealed-off front grille with a parametric jewel theme. The grille is also likely to host the charging port. Another significant addition is the ADAS sensor mounted on the front bumper. We expect Hyundai to offer Level 2 ADAS features for the Creta EV. The side profile and rear end remains more or less identical to its ICE-powered counterpart.

Hyundai Creta EV: Expected interiors & features

Cabin interiors of the battery-powered Creta are also likely to be carried forward from the standard petrol and diesel Creta. That said, the latest spy images suggest that Hyundai might offer a new two-spoke steering wheel for the Creta Electric. with multiple control buttons. One distinct feature noticed is the drive selector mounted on the steering column which frees up a lot of space on the centre console.

The Creta EV is expected to receive a similar twin-screen setup— a touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument console.  Other creature comforts we can expect from the battery-powered Creta are auto-dimming IRVM with telematics, powered driver’s seat, a Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake with auto hold, ventilated front seats, wireless charging pad, dual-zone climate control, etc.

Hyundai Creta EV: Expected powertrain specs

It has been reported that Creta EV is expected to be powered by a 45kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. Considering its potential rivals, the battery size feels slightly smaller. For instance, MG ZS EV gets a 50.3kWh battery. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki eVX is expected to offer two battery options– an entry-level 48kWh variant and a top-spec 60kWh unit.

As far as motor specs, Creta EV will share the electric motor as the latest-gen, entry-level Kona Electric on sale overseas. This means it will be powered by a single-motor setup driving the front wheels and delivering 136 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. Unlike the eVX, Creta EV is expected to be based on the same platform as its ICE-powered sibling.
