Honda Cars India has received over 4,000 bookings so far for the BRV compact SUV that was launched on May 5 in the price range of Rs 8.75 lakh – Rs 12.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle’s official bookings began on April 16, and the deliveries will commence very soon. The Japanese carmaker expects to clock good monthly numbers for its new compact SUV that is being launched in phased manner.

Built on the extended Brio platform, the Honda BRV is the longest and the only 7-seater vehicle in its category. Other three compact SUVs – Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano – are 5-seaters. The vehicle shares its platform and engines – 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol & i-DTEC diesel – with the Honda Mobilio MPV. While the petrol mill is good for 117bhp and 145Nm, the diesel mill churns out 99bhp and 200Nm.

Though the diesel version of the vehicle is the least powerful among all the compact SUV on sale in India, it is the most frugal one with an ARAI-certified mileage of 21.9kmpl. The petrol model, on the other hand, returns 15.4kmpl with manual gearbox and 16kmpl with the CVT automatic. The manual transmission on offer is 6-speed one.

The Honda BR-V is available in a total of 6 colour options – Alabaster Silver Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic and Urban Titanium Metallic, Taffeta White, Carnelian Red Pearl, and White Orchid Pearl.

In coming months, the company plans to bring in few more vehicles including the 2016 Honda City facelift and new Honda Accord Hybrid.
