Bookings for the much-awaited 7-seater compact SUV – Honda BR-V – have commenced ahead of its launch on May 5, 2016. Though the company hasn’t officially announced it, its dealers have been taking pre-orders for a sum of Rs 20,000. Expected to be priced quite aggressively, the Honda BR-V will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and other compact SUVs in the market.
The Honda BR-V is built on the extended Brio platform, which is the same that underpins the Mobilio. The compact SUV will also share its engine options with the Mobilio i.e. 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. While the 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine develops 117bhp and 145Nm, the 1.5-litre i-DTEC churns out 99bhp and 500Nm. Both the engines will come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, though the company might also launch a CVT automatic-equipped version.
With 4455mm length, 1650mm height, 1735mm width and 2660mm wheelbase, the Honda BR-V will be the biggest and most spacious vehicle in its category. It will also be the only 7-seater vehicle in its segment.
The Honda BR-V will be made available in a total of 6 colour options – Misty Green Pearl, Taffeta White, Passion Red Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and Lunar Silver Metallic.
