The compact sedan segment is buzzing with excitement like never before. The latest contender to enter the ring is the third-generation Honda Amaze, which becomes the first in its class to offer an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). While the Amaze comes with a higher price tag compared to the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, it also boasts more premium features. But is this enough to sway your decision? We break down the differences to help you decide which sedan is the right choice for you.

Honda Amaze vs Maruti Dzire: Price

Everything comes down to the dotted line, so we start with the prices. The new Amaze costs Rs 7.99 lakh and the top version is for Rs 10.90 lakh, introductory prices. The Honda sedan is available in three variants — V, VX and ZX. This includes both the transmission options — the 5-speed manual and the CVT automatic. 

The segment leader, the Dzire, is almost Rs 1.20 lakh cheaper than the Amaze as it starts from Rs 6.79 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 10.14 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Apart from being available in both manual and AMT gearboxes, the Dzire has an ace up its sleeve, it also comes in CNG.

Honda Amaze vs Maruti Dzire: Features

Looking past the pricing, the Honda Amaze stands out as the more feature-rich option compared to the Dzire. The entry-level V trim of the Amaze comes packed with features, including full LED lighting—covering the headlights, indicators, ORVMs, and tail lights. Inside, the cabin is equipped with an 8-inch infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, a 4-speaker audio system, a USB charging port, and a 7-inch TFT display instrument cluster.

The top-of-the-line Amaze raises the bar further with Honda Sensing (ADAS suite), adaptive cruise control, Lanewatch Camera, lane-keeping assist system, lead car departure notification system, road departure mitigation system and much more. The Amaze comes standard with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist, etc. It has 15-inch alloy wheels, Alexa capability, smartwatch connectivity, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a wireless phone charger.

The Dzire LXI is a more basic offering, lacking an infotainment system, LED lights, or even a USB port. However, it doesn’t skimp on safety features. The entry-level variant comes equipped with 6 airbags, all three-point seat belts, Hill Hold Assist, ABS with EBD, and reverse parking sensors. Both the Amaze and Dzire feature ISOFIX seat anchorages for child safety. Notably, the Dzire is the first Maruti Suzuki model to earn a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP, scoring full points for adult protection and 4 stars for child protection.

The Dzire top variant has features like all LED lights, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 9-inch infotainment system with a six-speaker music system, wireless phone charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, multiple USB charging ports and connected tech. 

Honda Amaze vs Maruti Dzire: Engine Specs

Honda has retained the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine with an output of 88.5 bhp at 6000 rpm and 110 Nm at 4800 rpm. The Amaze is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 7-step CVT with paddle shifters. According to Honda, the Amaze manual returns 18.65 kmpl and the CVT offers 19.46 kmpl.

The Dzire is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol powertrain with an output of 80 bhp at 5700 rpm and 111.7 Nm at 4300 rpm. The CNG version has an output of 69 bhp at 5700 rpm and 101.8 Nm at 2900 rpm. The petrol trim is mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. Based on the mileage figures claimed by Maruti Suzuki, the manual returns 24.79 kmpl, AMT 25.71 kmpl and CNG 33.73 km/kg.
