Ford has introduced the new Mustang Bullitt limited edition in order to commemorate 50 years of one of the most epic car chase scenes in movies ever. Ford Mustang got immensely famous due to ‘Bullitt’ movie, the star cast of which included renowned actor Steve McQueen. The car was used by McQueen in the movie to chase down the villains who were running ahead in a Dodge Charger. All thanks to the epic scene, the actor’s Dark Highland Green Ford Mustang gained a lot of admiration and popularity. In order to keep the legacy intact, the Ford Mustang Bullitt edition was introduced to the audience by none other than Molly McQueen. For the movie Bullitt, there were two Ford Mustangs built. Out of these, one had gone to a private buyer while the other that was used for multiple jumps for the much talked about car chase scene went to the salvage yard. The car that was sold to the private buyer never appeared again while the latter showed itself in California last year. The new Ford Mustang Bullitt edition will be sold in limited numbers and will be available for sale starting this summer.
The company has updated the specifications of the car in order to make it special than the regular model. Ford has also fitted the same manual transmission with white ball cue type gear shifter in the car that was present on the original model used in the movie. The new Ford Mustang Bullitt edition also gets the Mustang GT premium and performance package options that further boost the power and torque outputs to 475 hp and 570 Nm respectively.
Thanks to this set up, the Bullitt edition can achieve a top speed of 263 kmph and hence, witnesses 13 kmph more than the standard model. The deliveries for the new Ford Mustang Bullitt edition having Dark Highland Green paint scheme are expected to commence by mid-2018.
