Detroit Motor Show 2018: New gen Mercedes-Benz G-Class revealed ahead of global debut

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been fully revealed ahead of its global debut at the 2018 Detroit Motor Show. The car will make its first appearance officially on coming 15th January. As expected, the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class has retained its boxy design in the new version as well. There are changes to the headlamp design, front grille and the tail lamp that offer the new G-Class a fresh kind of a look. However, it is just not the design due to which the new Mercedes G-Class will be known for. The rugged SUV will come with a revised suspension set up at the front and rear that should definitely take its off-road prowess up a notch. A few days back, the company had issued the official teaser of the new G-Class with the tagline ‘DNA lives on’.

As already mentioned, the new Mercedes Benz G-Class is known and respected for its old-school type boxy design language. The SUV is in continuous production for the last 38 years and it is one of the oldest models in the history of Daimler. Mercedes Benz G-Class was originally designed and developed as a military vehicle but later on, due to the growing interest, it was handed over to the public in the year 1979. Since then, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class brand name has become synonymous with supreme off-road capabilities along with comfort and safety. The new G-Class is expected to come with multiple engine options. First, the 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 engine will be most likely on offer besides the company’s all-new 2.9-litre six-cylinder diesel motor. A nine-speed automatic gearbox is expected to come as standard.

The cabin of the new Mercedes Benz G-Class will take its inspiration from the S-Class. This is due to the fact that the earlier leaked spy shots reveal that the SUV will come with two large touchscreens and will have fewer buttons just like the aforementioned model. More details to be revealed on 15 January.
