One of the most infamous bits of tarmac is the Nürburgring — a place that has seen many forms of racing, including Formula 1. The track is still used by many to test cars, and the Touring Car Championships are held here. That said, the Nürburgring, often called the ‘Green Hell’, is also a tourist attraction and a place for enthusiasts to push their cars to the limits.

Nürburgring carsh — Porsche GT3 RS and BMW M2

When cars are pushed to the limit, accidents occur. The latest video to surface from the Nürburgring is a crash between a BMW and a Porsche. The video, filmed from the cockpit of the Porsche, shows how things can go horribly wrong in a few seconds.

The video shows a Porsche GT3 RS attempting a fast lap on the Nürburgring when a BMW M2 ahead of it swerves into the Porsche, sending the GT3 RS flying into the air before the car bursts into flames. Occupants of both cars survived, but the cars were totalled.

The Porsche GT3 RS has the front section completely ripped off, while the cabin is intact. The windows are smashed and the rear end has been damaged as well, and the case is the same with the M2, although the car is intact. The two cars are completely mangled.

Now we cannot point out whose mistake it was, as the Nürburgring is open to the public to time the cars and set a fast lap. Accidents do happen when racing, and this is an example of the darker side of motorsports. Lucky for these two drivers, they live to race another day.
