BMW Group recorded its highest ever annual sales in India in 2023, this includes all three brands, i.e, BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad. Besides, the German marque also registered the highest ever fourth-quarter sales in CY2023.
The luxury automaker delivered 14,172 cars across India in 2023 which includes 13,303 units sold under the BMW brand and 869 units from MINI. In the two-wheeler division, BMW sold 8,768 motorcycles retailed under BMW Motorrad. Further, December 2023 also witnessed the highest-ever monthly sales for BMW and MINI.

BMW cars records 18% growth
BMW registered an annual growth of 18% in 2023 in the car segment. A majority of it was attributed to the flagship models including the 7 Series sedan, i7, X7, and iX which accounted for a massive 88% growth from the previous year.
BMW’s SUV range contributed 54% to annual sales volume and saw the best-ever sales growing by over 24%. The new X1 was the highest selling SAV with a 20% contribution to overall sales. The X7 claimed the spot of second highest deliveries. The new BMW 3 Series was the highest-selling sedan with a share of 20% in sales.
BMW: Highest luxury EV seller
Moreover, BMW became the highest seller in the luxury EV space by registering a three-fold growth. The company sold a total of 1,474 units last year. The BMW iX remains the largest selling luxury electric vehicle in India. Besides iX, BMW retails three more EVS including the i4 and the recently launched iX1 and i7. The group also sells MINI Cooper SE which BMW claims to be the highest selling luxury electric hatchback in the country.
Speaking on the company’s leadership in the luxury EV space, Pawah added, “BMW Group India has successfully retained its leadership in the electric luxury car segment for the second consecutive year. MINI India records 22% growth
MINI sold 869 units in India across 2023 which resulted in a 22% increase. The locally produced MINI Countryman was the most popular model, dominating with a share of 55%. Sales for the electric MINI 3-Door Cooper SE more than doubled, becoming the second-highest selling MINI model at 28%.
BMW Motorrad registers 20% growth
The two-wheeler division of BMW sold 8,768 units in 2023 in India which led to a 20% growth. The entry-level G 310 models registered an impressive growth of 19% and maintained a share of 88% in overall sales. The core bikes available as completely built-up units saw a growth of 33%. The highest growth for the CBU models was recorded by the flagship GS adventure and RR sports segment.
