Kia has been working on a facelift of Sonet for a long time. Test mules of the updated subcompact SUV have been spotted on multiple occasions on Indian roads. It has now been revealed that the Korean carmaker will be unveiling the facelifted Sonet on December 14 this year. Prices for the same are expected to be announced early 2024.
This will be Sonet’s first major makeover ever since it made its debut in India in August 2020. Ahead of its debut, Kia has officially revealed a teaser of the Sonet on its social media handles. The latest teaser reveals significant details about the exterior of the new Sonet. Here’s a look at what to expect from the 2024 Sonet facelift
2024 Kia Sonet facelift: Revamped exterior
The short 20 second video shares a glimpse of the Sonet’s updated exterior which gets a revised front fascia. The most significant update is boomerang-shaped LED DRLs attached to the sleeker LED headlamps. That said, it retains the Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille however the shape is slightly different.
The front bumper is reprofiled and houses a redesigned air dam and LED fog lamps. Side profile remains unchanged although the facelifted Sonet might offer different dual-tone alloy wheel designs. Look at the rear is also expected to witness significant changes with the wraparound LED taillamps making way for vertically-oriented units although a light bar across the tailgate’s width is retained.
Further, the rear bumper could get a dual-tone treatment housing a registration plate and revised reflectors. More details will be revealed at the time of its launch.

2024 Kia Sonet facelift: Expected interiors & features
The teaser shares a small glimpse of the new Sonet’s interior which doesn’t look all new. The only noticeable change is likely to be a semi-digital instrument cluster in place of a fully digital unit since we can see an analogue dial behind the steering wheel. Another feature addition will be a Bose audio system.
Besides, the new Sonet is expected to retain the same set of features such as wireless phone charging, electric sunroof, auto climate control, ventilated front seats, and cruise control to name a few. Safety features will include six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system). Like its cousin— Hyundai Venue, the updated Sonet may also get an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

2024 Kia Sonet facelift: Expected engine specs
2024 Sonet will retain its multiple engine and transmissions from the current model. The entry-level variants will be powered by the 1.2-litre NA petrol with 82 bhp and 115 Nm and mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Then there is the 1.0-litre turbo with an output of 118 bhp and 172 Nm and two transmission options — a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed clutchless manual.
The Sonet will continue to offer a 1.5-litre diesel engine which develops 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. This oil burner comes with either a 6-speed clutchless manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options.
