For BMW fans, the launch of the new R 1300 GS was good news, however, for hardcore enthusiasts, something is missing — Where is the full-blown Adventure version? Good news is here, as BMW has teased the R 1300 GS Adventure version, set to launch in India as well, soon.
For those eyeing this motorcycle, here’s what to expect from the updated and all-new R 1300 GS Adventure, or the GSA as it’s known.
BMW R 1300 GSA — What will be new?
Taking into consideration the past iterations of the GSA, the 1200 and 1250s, the upcoming 1300 GSA will feature a larger fuel tank, giving the motorcycle a much longer range compared to the current versions of the motorcycle. The larger tank will give it the bulk most GS fans have missed about the new 1300, while also giving it the presence.
The GSA will lose its narrow profile, however, we can expect the larger tank to be designed in a way that it still stays narrow between the legs for the rider when riding the motorcycle. The bigger tank will also increase the weight of the motorcycle.
BMW R 1300 GSA — What will be retained?
Most parts of the motorcycle will be retained. It will continue to be powered by the same 143bbhp boxer twin engine mated to a new 6-speed gearbox with a quickshifter. That said, it will also carry forward the same suspension setup but might see a small tweak owing to the extra weight it carries.
Other aspects such as the electronic suite, rider aids, ride modes, suspension setting, heated grips and seat, electrically-adjustable visor, and the signature headlight design will all be carried forward by BMW. As for the pricing, expect the new R 1300 GSA to carry a premium over the existing models, while it will compete with the Tiger 1200 and the Africa Twin in India.
