The American based two-wheeler manufacturer, UM Motorcycles will reportedly launch two new products by the end of this year in India. The motorcycles will compete in the 200cc and 400cc segment. The company has also started working on a 400cc displacement engine and is expected that motorcycle might be inspired by a cruiser like Bajaj Avenger or the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
UM motorcycles launched two products at the 2016 Auto Expo – Commando and Renegade Sports S at Rs.1,49 lakh and Rs.1.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Both the bikes are powered by a 280cc, single-cylinder,4-stroke,4-valve, liquid-cooled engine which produces 25hp of power and 21.8Nm of peak torque. The motor is mated to 6-speed transmission sending power to the rear wheel through a chain-drive.
For manufacturing of its cruiser bikes, UM Motorcycles has a joint venture with the Noida-based Lohia Autos and will manufacture its products at its facility in Uttrakhand. The company is also planning to expand its network across the country by opening 50 dealerships and the deliveries of 3,000 units of bikes will start by the end of this month.
