As per a report by Bikewale, TVS will build sub-500cc motorcycles under the Norton brand in India. This will be a smart move to introduce the brand in India and take the competition to Triumph and KTM in the domestic market and other markets worldwide, including Europe. This will be interesting because TVS will also be building the new BMW F 450 GS in India for the global market.
Norton sub-500cc motorcycles — More details
As per reports, TVS will be building three motorcycles in the sub-500cc category and the first one to come out will be a 300cc version powered by TVS’ new 300cc liquid-cooled motor that will make its debut on the TVS RTX adventure motorcycle. The new Norton motorcycles will be launched sometime in 2028.
The new motorcycles will be built on a new platform and the 300cc engine being a modular powerplant, it can be manufactured with a larger displacement as well. With the sub-500cc segment being dominated by Triumph, KTM, and Royal Enfield, the introduction of the Norton brand will be a smart move as these motorcycles are gaining popularity globally.
For those who are not aware, Norton was founded in 1898 in England. TVS now owns the brand after it was acquired in 2020. TVS infused some money into Nortan for motorcycle development and the brand currently has a few motorcycles in its portfolio and has plans to launch more motorcycles in the premium segment. It will be good for TVS to sell these motorcycles here as well, because its closest competitors – KTM and Triumph – have their premium offerings in India as well.
