With the 125cc class of motorcycles spicing up the commuter segment, TVS is now planning to update its most popular 125cc commuter – the Raider 125. The motorcycle that revamped the premium 125cc segment with an overload of features and attractive styling is now set to get some upgrades in the wake of new competition from newer launches like the Honda CB 125 Hornet and Hero Xtreme 125R.
Unlike the recently launched Ntorq 150, the Raider 125 will be more of a facelift with a revamped features list. The sporty 125cc commuter is slated to receive a host of mechanical and cosmetic upgrades that could boost its safety profile, all while hoping to set a new benchmark in its segment.
2026 TVS Raider 125: What upgrades are planned
The most notable inclusion to the Raider 125 will be the addition of a rear disc brake option, as told to Bikewale. This upgrade is significant on paper, since it would make the Raider 125 the first motorcycle in the highly competitive 125cc segment to offer a dual disc brake setup. A dual disc setup could dramatically improve the braking performance.
Along with the new hardware, the updated Raider 125 is also expected to feature a single-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). While current regulations in India mandate ABS only for two-wheelers above 125cc and combined braking systems (CBS) are required for those below, the government is reportedly preparing to update the policies.
This upcoming policy may require all two-wheelers, regardless of engine capacity and displacement, to come equipped with single-channel ABS as standard, starting in January 2026. Rivals like the Hero Xtreme 125R and Honda CB 125 Hornet already offer single-channel ABS as standard equipment on top-end variants.
Currently, the most accessible TVS Raider 125 variant relies on a drum brake for the front wheel, while higher-end variants already feature a front disc brake. The new update will offer a more premium safety specification. Furthermore, the updated model is expected to be launched with a new paint scheme to refresh its appeal.
2026 TVS Raider 125 expected price
With all the new safety upgrades and colour refreshes, TVS is expected to hike the price to adjust the inclusion of added hardware. The addition of a rear disc brake and ABS could drive up the prices slightly, thus negating the benefits obtained from the GST 2.0 revisions, which led to a reduction in price.
