Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup, River, has re-opened the bookings of its maiden electric scooter, which now comes with a hefty price hike of Rs 13,000. The River Indie now costs Rs 1.38 lakh, ex-showroom Bengaluru.
Earlier, the first bookings of the River Indie were available for Rs 1.25 lakh, ex-showroom Bengaluru but as the FAME II subsidy was slashed last year, the e-scooter is now seeing a price increase. The company delivered 1,000 units in October 2023 to customers based in Bengaluru.
At a nominal booking fee of Rs 2,500, interested customers can book the Indie electric scooter on the company’s website or visit their newly opened showroom in Bengaluru.
River Indie: Design
The River Indie electric scooter or as the company claims ‘the SUV of scooters’ has a uniquely designed body, especially with twin-beam LED headlights and sturdy mounts for panniers attached to its sides.
Other design specifications include the flat floor bed, footpegs for the front rider and wide seats.
River Indie: Features
The Indie has a peak power of 6.7 kW (9bhp) along with a torque of 26Nm and a battery capacity of 4kWh. Charging in this scooter takes 5 hours to get up to 80% and 100% requires 1.5 hours more.
According to the company, the electric scooter has a range of 120km with a top speed of 90 kmph. It accelerates from 0-40 kmph in 3.7 seconds. With the price set at 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Bangalore), the River Indie is costlier than its competitors like the Ola S1, Ather 450S, TVS iQube S and Bajaj Chetak Premium, which offer similar performance and range.
