Vespa is an iconic scooter brand which has its presence all across the globe. In India too, the Italian company has existed for many decades mostly through partnerships with local OEMs but as an independent company since the past one decade. Vespa’s parent company, Piaggio, is marking its 140th anniversary globally.
To commemorate this momentous occasion, Piaggio has launched a special edition model of Vespa. Named “Vespa 140th of Piaggio”, only 140 units of this special edition model will be produced globally. Bookings for the same will open on 18 April and continue till 21 April 2024 for 66 countries. Unfortunately no unit has been reserved for India.
Vespa 140th edition styling
This special edition Vespa gets unique body graphics making the scooter look exclusive. Donning a white paint scheme, the scooter gets different blue accents giving it a sporty and youthful look. This includes a ‘140’ branding on the rear fender. A prototype of the same has already been built by the Piaggio Style Centre which is likely to be displayed at the Vespa World Days 2024 rally to be held between the dates mentioned above.

The overall design adheres to the classic Vespa styling which incorporates a perfect blend of modern and retro elements. The styling is inspired by the Vespa 300 GTV. A circular headlamp mounted on the front fender, position lamps with integrated turn indicators mounted on the apron, a scooped out, single-piece racing seat, air fins on the side fenders, and blue-coloured alloy wheel rims.
Vespa 140th edition specs & features
Powering the Vespa 140th edition is a 278cc e single cylinder, 4 stroke, 4 valve which dishes out 23.8 bhp at 8,250 rpm and a peak torque of 26 Nm at 5.250 rpm. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via CVT automatic gearbox. Fuel efficiency is rated at 30.3 km/l. In terms of features, the Vespa 140th of Piaggio is equipped with full LED illumination, and a fully-digital, circular instrument panel.

Other convenience features include keyless engine start/stop system, traction control, Bluetooth connectivity, and anti-lock braking system. In addition, Vespa is offering a bunch of accessories including a large rear leather bag with the Vespa logo embossed and smooth leather reinforcement on the bottom, a rear luggage carrier, a large windscreen in methacrylate, and crash bars.
