New TVS Ntorq 150: Top 3 highlights

After numerous teasers, TVS has launched the new Ntorq 150 in India, priced at Rs 1.19 lakh, ex-showroom. The new TVS Ntorq 150 is available in two variants and is loaded with features, while it competes with the Hero Xoom 160, Yamaha Aerox 155, and others in the segment. While we will see a comparison soon, let’s look at the top three highlights of the Ntorq 150.

Design and platform

Let’s start with the way the Ntorq looks. The new Ntorq 150 is based on the same platform as the 125 that has been on sale for a long time, and it also shares the same chassis as the Ntorq 125. However, it sports a fresh design, making it stand out compared to the 125. The TVS Ntorq 150 features multiple colour schemes and sports a refreshed design.

The headlight unit is smaller and sits high up on the front apron, and the aggressive design approach targets younger buyers who are looking for more power from a scooter. Towards the rear, the tail lamp design is also different, and the Ntorq 150 gets a split unit.

Equipment and features

The new Ntorq 150 features projector headlights, all LED lighting, and is suspended by telescopic front forks and a single-sided rear shock. The Ntorq 150 rides on 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends, while it gets a disc brake for the front and a drum brake for the rear.

On the features front, the biggest highlight is the TFT instrument display on the higher-spec variant of the new Ntorq 150, which gets smartphone connectivity. Other interesting highlights include adjustable levers, 22-litre under-seat storage, and traction control.

Engine specifications

The biggest highlight of the new Ntorq 150 is the engine. The scooter is powered by a 149.7cc, air-cooled single-cylinder engine. The engine makes 13bhp and 14.2Nm of peak torque, while being paired to a CVT gearbox. TVS has not revealed any acceleration figures, but claims a top speed of 104kmph, which is fast for a scooter.

In contrast, the TVS Ntorq 150’s competition, the Hero Xoom 160 and the Yamaha Aerox 155, are both powered by single-cylinder liquid-cooled engines.
