Like many of its contemporaries, TVS Motor Company is working on an affordable electric scooter which will most likely be priced under Rs 1 lakh. This development was recently confirmed by Sudarshan Venu, who was announced as the new Chairman of TVS Motor Company, replacing Sir Ralf Dieter Speth.

TVS affordable electric scooter patent

A few patent images of the upcoming electric scooter from TVS have been leaked on social media. The image appears to showcase the design of a pre-production concept which looks some time away from reaching production levels. Some of the elements seem to be inspired by the iQube range with its horizontal LED DRLs and LED turn indicators up front.

These are accompanied by sleek rear LED taillights and turn indicators. However, the LED elements on this scooter are much sleeker than the ones seen in the iQube. The scooter’s main headlights are mounted on the handlebar shroud, complemented by a tall windscreen. Its sleek side panels feature a distinct design element that flows from the sides through the floorboard and into the front apron—potentially indicating the location of the battery pack.

The overall shape of the scooter is geometrically very squarish with a flat bench seat, a flat floor board, and a flat apron. There’s a visible keyhole along with what seems to be a small glovebox and a charging port. The front wheel appears larger than the rear, and the scooter likely features a mid-mounted, belt-driven motor paired with dual rear shock absorbers.

Since there is no exhaust pipe coming out, it is safe to assume that this patent shows an electric scooter. Other visual highlights include split grab rails for the pillion, a small cubby hole up front, a rear tyre hugger, and twin rear shock absorbers.

At this point of time, we cannot confirm if this design belongs to TVS’ upcoming affordable electric scooter. Specific details on the upcoming affordable electric scooter are expected to come out in the coming months. The affordable electric scooter is expected to get the same 2.2 kWh battery that is available in the entry-level variants of the iQube. This battery promises a range of 94 km on a single charge in the iQube.
