Kawasaki is coming up with a new launch soon. The Japanese premium bike brand has taken to social media teasing a new model which is rumoured to be Eliminator 450. Without revealing too much, the teaser mentions “The Original Icon” which is slated to make its debut at the upcoming edition of India Bike Week on December 8 in Goa.
It is yet to be seen if Kawasaki announces prices of the motorcycle at its unveiling or at a later date. The “Eliminator” is not an all-new name in the Indian market. For the uninitiated, the cruiser was on sale in India briefly more than two decades ago. It was a result of the joint venture between Kawasaki and Bajaj.
Back then the Eliminator was a 180cc cruiser. However, it got discontinued when the Japanese and the Indian bike brands broke up. Based on the same, Bajaj launched the original Avenger with an 180cc engine. Later, the Avenger range was expanded to 160cc and 220cc models.
Kawasaki Eliminator: Design, expected specs
In its current avatar, Eliminator is a 450cc neo-retro cruiser with highlights like a circular headlamp encased within bezel, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a wide and short rear fender, a stubby exhaust muffler, round rear view mirrors, and split seats. Like typical cruisers, Eliminator too has a low-slung stance with a wide handlebar and forward-set footpegs that translate into a comfortable and relaxed riding posture.

In terms of features, Eliminator comes equipped with an all-digital LCD instrument console that reads out data from the gear position indicator and a bar-style tachometer. It also gets Bluetooth connectivity via Kawasaki’s Rideology application.
Powering Eliminator is a 451cc DOHC, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that delivers 45 bhp and 42.6 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch. Eliminator is based on a steel trellis frame that is suspended on 41mm telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. Braking duties are performed by 310 mm and 220 mm discs at front and rear, respectively aided by a dual-channel ABS.
Kawasaki Eliminator India launch
It will be interesting to see whether Kawasaki brings the Eliminator as a fully imported CBU model or a locally assembled CKD model. Eliminator will sit below the Vulcan S, the company’s flagship cruiser in India which is priced at Rs 7.10 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect Kawasaki to price the Eliminator under the Rs 5 lakh mark.
