The all-new Husqvarna Svartpilen 801 has officially made its debut in global markets. Replacing the outgoing Svartpilen 701, the new Svartpilen is the biggest Husqvarna yet and shares its DNA with the new-gen KTM Duke 790. It is also the first time that a Husky features a multi-cylinder engine.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 801: Mechanical specs

Powering the Husqvarna 801 is the same 799cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine as its Austrian counterpart. This motor pumps out 103.5 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 87 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm. Power will be transferred to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-assist clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter offered as standard.

Not only the engine, but the new flagship Husky shares most of its underpinnings with the 790 Duke, albeit a few changes. It borrows the same tubular chassis as the KTM 790 Duke but the Svartpilen 801 boasts of a fully-adjustable suspension setup sourced from WP-Apex. Anchorage is carried out by J.Juan 4-piston radially-mounted callipers clamping down upon twin 300mm discs and a single 240mm disc at the rear.

The naked streetfighter rolls on 17-inch front and rear alloy wheels which are shod with dual-purpose Pirelli MT60RS rubber. Husqvarna claims the new Svartpilen weighs only 181 kg (dry). The tank can hold 14 litres of fuel.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 801: Features & Design

The new Husky is loaded to gills as far as electronic rider aids are concerned. These include lean-sensitive traction control, switchable rear ABS, cornering ABS, and three ride modes— Street, Sport, and Rain. The Dynamic package adds an additional Dynamic ride mode along with anti-wheelie control, cruise control, and Motor Slip regulation.

Other features offered include a 5-inch TFT instrument panel, Bluetooth connectivity with call and text notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, all-LED illumination, and Supemoto or switchable rear ABS.

When it comes to design, the flagship Husky gets similar lines as other models in the Swedish brand’s lineup. It gets some signature styling elements such as the integrated tank shrouds, a chopped-off tail section, upswept exhaust muffler, and a small flyscreen up front. Previous images revealed a prototype wearing a headlight grille, and a bash plate which are likely to be offered as accessories.
