Ducati has unveiled its first-ever motocross bike, the Desmo450 MX. Ducati has designed and built the Desmo450 MX with racing in mind and the MX races will soon see a wave of red. The new Ducato Desmo450 MX will soon go on sale in the US and will carry a price tag of approximately Rs 10 lakh.
Ducati Desmo450 MX — More details
The motorcycle is built around an aluminium chassis to keep the welds minimal, keep it light, and give it the rigidity it needs. The motorcycle is suspended by 49mm Showa USD forks that are fully adjustable, a monoshock at the rear, Brembo brakes at both ends and more — all specced up for competition use.
Powering the motorcycle is a new 449.6cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, single-cylinder engine that makes 62bhp and 54Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox that comes with a quickshifter to up the gears only. The motorcycle weighs 104kg dry and the saddle height is set at 970mm.
In terms of electronics, the Desmo450 MX gets riding modes (two preset modes and one fully customisable one), traction control, fall control, and engine brake control. The traction control will not let the rider use the maximum power on dirt, however, this will be useful for amateurs. The new Ducati Desmo450 MX will compete with a host of motorcycles made by Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, KTM, and Triumph amongst others.
