Aprilia brought the RS 457 to India last year. Later at EICMA 2024 in Milan, the Italian brand showcased the Tuono 457 based on the RS 457. Earlier this month, the company listed the upcoming naked streetfighter on the official Aprilia India website. Aprilia recently announced that the Tuono 457 will be launched on 17 or 18 February 2025.
The naked streetfighter is set to hit Indian roads soon and ahead of its launch it has been spied testing on Indian soil. The latest spy shots show a camouflaged test mule of the Tuono 457 undergoing final stages of testing before launch next month. The Tuono is essentially a stripped off version of the RS 457 with essentially the same underpinnings.
Aprilia RS Tuono spied: Expected design
The Tuono 457 sets itself apart from its larger Tuono counterparts with a distinct design philosophy. Unlike the Tuono 660, which features a semi-faired body, the Tuono 457 embraces a more aggressive streetfighter aesthetic, eliminating the quarter-fairing around the tank and headlamp. Despite this, its bold and imposing presence remains uncompromised.
The latest spy image also shows the prototype carrying a top box at the rear which will be offered as an accessory. Its extended tank shrouds enhance its muscular stance, while a striking twin LED headlamp—reminiscent of a giant mantis—adds to its menacing appeal. Additional design elements include split seats, a floating tail section, and an underbelly exhaust. The Tuono 457 will be offered in two eye-catching color options: Piranha Red and Puma Grey.
Aprilia RS Tuono spied: Expected features & specs
In terms of features, the Tuono 457 will offer a 5-inch TFT digital instrument panel with Bluetooth connectivity, ride-by-wire throttle with three customisable ride modes, traction control, LED headlight and taillight, etc.
Underpinning the Tuono 457 is the same aluminium chassis as the one employed by RS 457. This frame sits on preload adjustable USD front forks and a rear monoshock. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes at both ends. The naked street fighter will roll on 17-inch alloy wheels which are wrapped in 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres.
Powering the Tuono 457 is a 457cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine which propels the RS 457. This motor pushes out 46.9 bhp and 43.5 Nm of peak torque in the latter. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slip and assist clutch. There will also be the option for a bi-directional quickshifter.
