After a long anticipation, KTM finally launched the new-gen Adventure range, including 390 Adventure and 250 Adventure, in India. The latter goes up against another 250cc adventure tourer in the form of Suzuki V-Strom SX. Let us find out how the quarter-litre ADV from the Austrian fares against its nemesis from Japan.

Starting with dimensions, the KTM holds three distinct advantages over the Suzuki. The former offers a better ground clearance of 227 mm, a more accessible saddle at 825mm, and a larger fuel tank of 14.5 litres. The only clear advantage the V-Strom has over the 250 Adventure is a lighter kerb weight of 167 kg.

2025 KTM 250 Adventure vs Suzuki V-Strom 250: Hardware
Underpinned by a powder-coated, steel trellis frame, the KTM 250 Adventure gets WP Apex long travel suspension with 200mm of travel on both ends along with preload adjustability for the rear monoshock. Braking duties are carried out by 320mm front and 240mm rear discs aided by dual-channel ABS. It rolls on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels shod with road-biased tyres.
Suzuki V-Strom is underpinned by a diamond frame that sits on telescopic forks up front and a rear monoshock with preload adjustability, offering 120 mm travel at both ends. Anchorage is handled by a 300mm front and 220mm rear disc brake setup. Like the KTM, the Suzuki also rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels shod with road-biased tyres.

When it comes to features, Suzuki offers features like an LED headlamp, halogen taillamp, USB charging port, and a digital LCD instrument console that packs Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.
In comparison, the KTM 250 Adventure is far better equipped with amenities like LED headlamps, taillamps, and turn indicators, USB charging port, and a 5-inch TFT instrument panel that gets smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation and SMS/call alerts. In addition, KTM offers electronic riding aids like cornering ABS, switchable traction control, quickshifter, off-road ABS, and cruise control to enhance the riding experience.

Both motorcycles get a 249cc single-cylinder engine. The difference is that the KTM 250 Adventure gets a liquid-cooled motor whereas the Suzuki V-Strom makes do with an oil-cooled mill. As a result, the 250 Adventure pushes out a higher output of 30.5 bhp and 25 Nm of peak torque in comparison to 26.1 bhp and 22.2 Nm. However, both bikes claim a similar top speed of 140 kmph on paper.

The new-gen KTM 250 Adventure is priced at Rs 2.60 lakh (ex-showroom) which makes it around Rs 36,000 more expensive than Suzuki V-Strom 250. However, for the additional money, the KTM offers a lot more features and much better performance with slightly better off-road capabilities.
