Auto Expo 2018: Maruti Suzuki Swift 2018 launching on 8th of February: New looks, expected price and more on Maruti’s most iconic hatchback

Auto Expo 2018: As the weeks turn to days ahead of the Auto Expo 2018, one of the biggest manufacturers in the country Maruti Suzuki will be readying their new 2018 Swift for launch. The new Swift is said to launch this week on the 8th of Feb 2018 at the Auto Expo. We’ve driven the new 2018 Swift at a media preview event ahead of the launch, you can find our review here. The 2018 Swift brings a much-needed touch up to Maruti Suzuki’ Swift hatchback, the car which literally defined the premium hatch segment as it is today. The new Swift benefits from Maruti’s new HearTECT platform (which it shares with the Baleno and the Dzire) and gets some serious styling adjustments to make it look worthy of a 2018 premium hatch.

The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift is yet to get an official price-tag although pre-bookings have begun, we expect the Swift to be priced just under the Rs 5 lakh rupee mark for the base petrol variant with the top diesel variant expected to be priced under the 8 lakh rupee corresponding to the slightly premium Baleno. However one will have to wait for the launch on the 8th of Feb at the Auto Expo 2018, to be absolutely sure.

The Swift is also set to get an automatic gearbox in the 2018 version, with an AMT or Automated manual system expected on both the petrol and diesel variants. A go-faster Swift Sport is also expected to follow in the Baleno RSs footsteps, although we do hope that Maruti considers the 140 hp 1.4 Turbocharged motor rather than the more likely 100hp 1.0 BoosterJet Motor from the Baleno RS. Although this will be just one of the few headliners at Maruti Suzuki’s stall at the Auto Expo 2018, with cars like the Future S and the E-Survivor concept breaking ground at the Auto Expo 2018.
