Indian exporters of steel, aluminium to EU to take up to 22% hit
Indian exporters are facing a price cut of 15-22% on their products due to the implementation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) by the EU. This tax will initially affect iron, steel, aluminium, fertilizers, cement, electricity, and hydrogen. While EU-based importers will pay the tax, Indian exporters will ultimately bear the cost, leading to higher compliance costs.
