The Volvo v40 measures 4,370 mm in length, 2,041 mm in width, 1,458 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,646 mm. It is available in seven exterior colours, Crystal White Pearl, Onyx Black, Bright Silver Metallic, Passion Red Solid, Ice White Solid, Osmium Grey Metallic and Bursting Blue Metallic. The alloy wheel for the Volvo V40 is a 16 inch unit for the D3 Kinetic variant and 17 inch for the D3 R-Design. Both variants of the Volvo V40 come with DSTC (Dynamic Stability Traction Control), Advanced Stability Control, ABS (Anti lock Braking System), Whiplash Protection System and other active and passive safety features.

The Volvo V40 measures 4,370 mm in length, 2,041 mm in width, 1,458 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,646 mm. It has a ground clearance of 133 mm. The lower portion of the front gets an air intake section and LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). The projector headlamps, black radiator grille with chrome surround are also standard. The R-Design version also offers a fixed panoramic sunroof and alloy wheels exclusive to the trim. The hatchaback is available in seven exterior colours, Crystal White Pearl, Onyx Black, Bright Silver Metallic, Passion Red Solid, Ice White Solid, Osmium Grey Metallic and Bursting Blue Metallic.
