Toyota Corolla Altis is an executive sedan powered by a petrol and diesel engine, which are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The petrol, though, also has an option of a 7 Speed i CVT automatic transmission for added convenience. In terms of safety, all variants of the Toyota Corolla Altis comes with ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, dual front and driver knee airbags as standard across all its trims. Upper variants also have vehicle stability management, impact sensing fuel cut off and clutch start system. The exterior has a resemblance to its more expensive sibling, the Camry Hybrid. A dual headlamp unit with projector beam headlamp unit and an LED tail lamp unit complement the 4,620 mm long sedan’s contemporary design.

The Toyota Corolla Altis measures 4,620 mm in length, 1,775 in width and 1,475 mm in height. With a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, the Altis has a large cabin. The three box car offers a choice of steel rims with wheel covers and alloy wheels that are available in 15 and 16 inch sizes with their respective tyres sized at 195/65 and 205/55 section. The front houses a dual LED headlamp in each unit and the rear is an LED setup. The strong shoulder lines merge with the front and the rear to form an elegant design, which isn’t too loud but has good road presence.

Upfront, the black and beige dashboard is elegant and houses the 7 inch touchscreen infotainment unit that has USB, AUX in, Radio and Bluetooth streaming. A multifunction information display shows essential information such as distance to empty, average fuel consumption etc. The chunky steering wheel has audio and phone controls mounted on it. A seperate switchgear behind the steering wheel operates the cruise control.

The Toyota Corolla Altis is powered by two engines, a 1,798 cc petrol motor and a 1,364 cc diesel unit. While the petrol produces 138 hp power at 6,400 rpm and 173Nm torque at 4,000 rpm, the diesel generates 87hp at 3,800 rpm and 205Nm between 1,800 rpm and 2,800 rpm. Both engines are refined and the sound proofing controls sound intrusion inside the cabin.
