The Hyundai Santa Fe is a luxury SUV offering from the Korean carmaker that looks huge at first glance but is balanced in its proportions. Clean flowing lines fuse with the contours of the car to carry to the fluidic sculpture design language. In a 7-seater only format, the Santa Fe was conceived in 2001 and was named after the city of Santa Fe in New Mexico. This model was replaced by a second generation in 2007 which came to India. However, somehow it couldn’t quite cut it with the potential buyers. Now, in its third iteration, the Santa Fe is a very captivating car and is available in a diesel engine option only.

At first glance, the Hyundai Santa Fe feels small, but walk closer and you realise that each curve fuses with the bulk so beautifully, that volume of this behemoth just hides away. It is a luxury SUV that one can easily take to the urban jungle and blend in. Instead of the butch, brawny design offered by other players in this segment, the Santa Fe looks elegant and poised.

  • Hyundai Santa FE Interior

    Hyundai Santa FE

Inside the Santa Fe, it is as luxurious as some of the luxury sedans in the Indian automotive market. The touch and feel of the equipment is brilliant with everything within the driver’s reach. A cooled glovebox, steering mounted audio, telephony and cruise controls add to the convenience factor while cocooning you in safety courtesy as host of features such as airbags all around, ABS, traction control, Vehicle Stability System and a lot more. Overall, this is one of the most elegant cabins in the luxury SUV department.

  • Hyundai Santa FE Engine

    Hyundai Santa FE

Powering the Hyundai Santa Fe is a 2.2 L CRDi diesel engine. It generates a massive 193hp max power at 3,800 rpm and 421Nm peak torque from as low as 1,800 rpm all the way to 2,500 rpm. In the top-end trim, the same 2.2 L engine produces 236Nm of torque in the same rev range while the horsepower figure remains the same. The engine is a very refined unit and has minimum vibrations with very little noise which is acceptable for a diesel. Overall, the unit is more perfect for this luxury SUV.

  • Hyundai Santa FE Transmission

    Hyundai Santa FE

The Hyundai Santa Fe is mated to two transmission options – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. Power is sent to the rear wheels vis these gearboxes. That said, one can go for the top-end trip that has a four wheel drive system and has more torque. That said, there are no complaints whatsoever from both the transmission units.
