The Hyundai i20 Active measures at 3,995 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width, 1,555 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,570 mm. While the lower variants are offered with halogen lamps, the higher versions have projector lamps with cornering lights and LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). While the lower variants of the Hyundai i20 Active come with body coloured door handles as well as ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors), the top end SX version comes with chrome door handles. The higher trims also have turn indicators on the ORVMs.
The interiors of the Hyundai i20 Active have some changes in comparison to the Elite i20 which include a raised ride height and a black and orange combination on the fabric seats. The AC vents have orange bezels and a black/orange gear knob along and in addition, the Hyundai i20 Active is also offered with a touchscreen infotainment unit with steering mounted audio and phone controls. All variants of the Hyundai i20 Active are offered with aluminium pedals, front and rear door pockets, rear parcel tray, gear shift indicator, dual tripmeter, low fuel warning, door and tailgate open warning lamp. The higher versions also have height adjustable driver’s seat, 60:40 rear seat split, adjustable rear headrests, reverse parking display, leather wrappped steering wheel as well as gear knob and sunglass holder.
Powering the i20 Active are two engines, a 1.2 litre Kappa petrol unit and a 1.4 litre U2 CRDi diesel. The petrol engine generates 82 hp of power at 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm and the diesel engine produces 89 hp at 4,000 rpm and 220 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm to 2,750 rpm. Both engines have been tuned for the best balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
The Hyundai i20 Active has two sets of transmission options. While the petrol is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the diesel comes with a 6-speed manual unit. Both transmissions offer smooth gear changes, however, no variant of the Hyundai i20 Active is offered with an automatic gearbox.
The Hyundai i20 Active is offered with dual front airbags as standard across all variants. The upper S trim also gets ABS (Anti-locking Braking System), reverse parking camera with sensors and the SX, in addition to all the aforementioned safety features also gets side and curtain airbags.
The ARAI certified mileage of the Hyundai i20 Active is 17.19 kmpl for the petrol and 21.19 kmpl for the diesel. These figures are acceptable for its segment.
