The Hyundai micro SUV, Casper, has generated considerable excitement following the company’s trademark filing in India. The petrol variant is currently available in South Korea. Adding to the speculation, Hyundai has recently teased the electric version of the Casper, named the Inster. The debut of this micro-SUV is scheduled for the Busan Mobility Show on June 27.

Hyundai Inster EV: What is it?

The Casper is derived from the Grand i10 Nios, and its electric variant is anticipated to share similar dimensions. The petrol Casper measures 3,595 mm in length, 1,386 mm in width, 1,575 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,400 mm. The Inster features a comparable split headlamp design on the front facade, with sleek LED DRLs serving as indicators and circular headlights encircled by new LED DRLs. Hyundai’s teasers reveal that the Inster, akin to its competitor, the Tata Punch EV, includes a front charging lid. While the side profile details are obscured, the silhouette echoes that of the Casper. At the rear, it showcases Hyundai’s distinctive EV pixel graphics for the tail lamps and indicators.

Hyundai has not revealed the Inster’s cabin, but the Korean automobile manufacturer claims that it will offer a driving range of 355 km (WLTP) on a single charge.

Hyundai Inster EV: Rival

Should Hyundai launch the Inster EV, it would be a direct competitor to the popular Tata Punch EV. The Punch EV comes in two variants: the standard model with a 25 kWh battery and the long-range version with a 35 kWh battery. The standard variant delivers 80 bhp and 114 Nm of torque and offers a driving range of 315 km, while the long-range variant produces 121 bhp and 190 Nm of torque with a driving range of 421 km, as per Tata Motors. The starting price for the standard Punch EV is Rs 10.99 lakh, and the long-range version is priced at Rs 15.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
