The performance electric scooter segment has a new entrant in the form of the TVS X, the company’s second electric scooter offering after the iQube. The TVS X sports a unique design, focused on performance, which puts it right in between the Ather 450X and the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2. Let’s take a closer look at all three electric scooters and what they have to offer, while also comparing them.
TVS X

The TVS X, unlike its competition, is based on a twin-spar aluminium frame, similar to a high-end motorcycle. Also, unlike the other two, the TVS X does not feature a traditional floorboard. The X features a single-sided swingarm, an off-set rear shock, telescopic front suspension, vertically-stacked LED headlights, and disc brakes at both ends.
On the features front, the TVS X’s biggest talk point is the 10.25-inch dash, which gets a host of connectivity options and also allows the users to stream videos online. The TVS X gets cruise control, hill-hold assist, theft alert, fall alert, and more. Also, the TVS X is the only electric scooter on sale in India with ABS, albeit a single-channel unit.
Ather 450 X

The Ather 450X needs no introduction and the scooter is a good example of how a startup can deliver a well-engineered product. The angular design gives the Ather 450X a sporty look and the minimalistic design gives the scooter a clean overall design. The Ather gets telescopic forks, a rear monoshock, disc brakes at both ends, LED lighting, and more.
On the features front, the Ather 450X gets a 7-inch TFT touchscreen dash with similar features to that of the TVS X, alongside hill-hold assist, theft alert, fall alert, and more. The 450X also gets an emergency stop signal feature, while it is the only scooter amongst the three to not have an inbuilt speaker.
Ola S1 Pro

The Ola S1 has had its fair share of hits and misses and is currently the best-selling electric scooter in India. The S1 Pro saw a major update a few months ago with tweaks done to its battery pack, chassis, suspension, and other bits. The new Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 gets telescopic forks, dual rear shocks, LED lighting, and disc brakes at both ends amongst others.
On the features front, the updated S1 Pro carries forward all the features from the previous-gen vehicle, such as the touchscreen dash with connected tech, speakers and party mode. Safety features include hill hold, proximity unlock, and cruise control.
TVS X vs competition – Specifications
The TVS X is offered with a sole 4.4 kWh battery pack which promises a real-world range of 105km. The Ather 450X is offered with a 2.9kWh battery pack or a larger 3.7 kWh battery pack, while the Ola S1 Pro gets a 4kWh battery pack.
| Specifications | TVS X | 450X | S1 Pro |
| Battery Pack | 4.4kWh | 3.9kWh | 4kWh |
| Range (IDC) | 140km | 150km | 195km |
| Recharge Time | 3.4 hours (0-80%) | 4.3 hours (0-80%) | 6.5 hours |
| 0 to 40kmph | 2.6 seconds | 3.3 seconds | 2.6 seconds |
| Top Speed | 105 kmph | 90 kmph | 120 kmph |
Amongst the three electric scooters, the TVS X has the largest battery pack while the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 has the highest claimed IDC range. However, on the performance front, the Ather is the slowest to accelerate to 40kmph, but in the real world, one cannot notice that the scooter feels equally fast.
TVS X vs competition – Which one?

Amongst the three electric scooters, the Ather 450X is the smart choice, as it is practical and a well-built product. The Ola S1 Pro seems to offer a lot of features, but how many of them can be used in the real world depends on the user, and it can get a bit overwhelming at times.
The TVS X is an interesting scooter, especially given the design and the way it handles. However, what one needs to consider is the price point as the TVS X is the most expensive amongst the three by a considerable margin. That said, if money is not a constraint and a performance electric scooter is what you are looking for, the TVS X is something to seriously consider.
| Price | TVS X | Ather 450X | Ola S1 Pro |
| Rs 2.5 lakh | Rs 1.44 lakh | Rs 1.47 lakh |
