The sporty hatchback segment is getting more interesting, as Tata Morors is gearing up to launch the Altroz Racer, a sportier version of the Altroz hatchback that will compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line. Ahead of its launch next month, Tata has released a teaser.
Tata Altroz Racer — What is it?
The upcoming Tata Altroz Racer will be a sportier version of the Altroz premium hatchback that is currently in sale. The Altroz Racer was initially showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo, sporting racing stripes, and the current teaser, along with earlier spy shots have revealed more details.
The Altroz Racer will be based on the same platform as the regular hatchback, while it even sports the same 16-inch wheels as the standard car. However, it gets a slightly modified grille design and a dual-tone exterior finish to highlight its sporty nature.

The cabin too, will get updated to match the sporty nature of the Altroz Racer. The car will get highlights in the dash and new upholstery, with the ‘Racer’ badging. The car will have more equipment compared to the standard version and will feature a new 10.25-inch infotainment system with a host of connectivity options.
The next biggest highlight will be the engine, and unlike the regular version’s 108bhp petrol engine, the Altroz Racer will get the Nexon’s 118bhp turbo petrol engine, pitting it right against the Hyundai i20 N Line, which also gets a 118bhp petrol engine. That said, the Tata Altroz Racer is expected to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox only.

When launched next month, the new Tata Altroz Racer will compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx turbo, and the Toyota Taisor.Â
