Skoda, the Czech Republic carmaker, today revealed the camouflaged version of the production-spec Skoda VisionS concept at an event in Prague. Though it was showcased as the A-Plus SUV, it will most probably be called the Skoda Kodiaq upon its launch. The name Kodiaq takes its inspiration from the Kodiak Island in Alaska.
While the Skoda Kodiaq will make its global debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show, it will come to India in 2017. The new Skoda SUV is based on the company’s new design language that the company will use for its other upcoming vehicles as well. Though the Skoda VisionS concept had already previewed the new design language, it will be toned-down a little for the final version.

The Skoda Kodiaq will share the new MQB platform with the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan which is expected to be launched in India in the second half of this year. While the global model will be offered with several engine options including a hybrid motor, there is no clarity yet about the India-bound model’s engines.
Expected to be priced between Rs 25 lakh – Rs 30 lakh, the Skoda Kodiaq will take on the likes of Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe and Toyota Fortuner.
