Tata Motors is launching the updated Safari on October 17th. The Indian automobile manufacturer has packed the 2023 Safari with class-leading functions and also upping the safety quotient. We take a quick look at the new features.
New feature: 10.25-inch instrument cluster

Tata Motors has replaced the old 7-inch driving console with an all-digital 10.25-inch unit. The new instrument cluster reads out helpful information like a tyre pressure monitor, navigation display, etc. The display can be further customized based on the type of information needed by the person behind the steering wheel.Â
New feature: 12.30-inch infotainment systemÂ

The Safari has a high-definition 12.30-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera and a 10-speaker Harman music system with multiple audio modes. The new system offers four different voice command systems — Alexa, Google Command, Apple Siri and Tata’s own system. The SUV supports over 250 voice commands in six languages.
New feature: Ventilated second row

Taking a leaf from the Safari’s limited editions — Dark and Gold, the 2023 Safari now comes equipped with ventilated seats for both the front and the second rows. Even though the new Safari is available in both six and seven-seat configurations, it’s the former captain seats that get the ventilated feature. This is available from the Accomplished variant onwards and needless to say how practical this feature is.Â
New feature: Powered tailgate

Good news for all those who swear by retail therapy. One can’t overlook the convenience factor where the tailgate opens up effortlessly. To add another feather to the Safari’s cap, the powered tailgate comes with gesture control and a simple leg swipe underneath the bumper unlocks it truly making it a hands-free experience. There are three other ways of opening the boot — the button on the boot, the key fob and a touch button on the centre console.Â
7 airbags and updated ADAS

The Safari comes standard with six airbags across range but the Accomplished trim onwards the SUV comes with an additional seventh airbag that protects the driver’s knee. Tata Motors has updated the ADAS suite which is available on Accomplished+ and Accomplished+ Dark variants but on the six-seater Safari. The ADAS suite now offers 11 features including new adaptive cruise control.
