Tesla is gearing up to bring out a facelifted Model Y. China will be the first market to receive the updated coupe electric crossover. The American EV maker has reportedly started delivering units of the Model Y First Edition in the world’s largest EV market February 26 onwards.
That said, Tesla’s official China website says the pre-facelifted Model Y will remain on sale till the end of this month.The company has made the official announcement through the official Weibo social media account. Codenamed Juniper, the new Model Y is priced between CNY 263,500 – 303,500 ( equivalent to Rs 31.65 lakh to Rs 36.46 lakh).
The refreshed Model Y broke the cover on January 10 in China whereas production of the couple electric crossover on February 17. Nine days later, Tesla was up and ready with the first lot of units ready to be dispatched across every Chinese dealership. Therefore, the updated 2025 Model Y is out on the roads within 47 days of its global debut.
Tesla originally scheduled Model Y deliveries to begin in March. However, thanks to the Shanghai Gigafactory initiating volume production of the updated SUV ahead of schedule, deliveries were advanced to late February. Buyers of the Model Y First Edition will get an additional two-year or 40,000-km extended warranty.
2025 Tesla Model Y Specs
Tesla is offering the 2025 Model Y with two powertrain configurations. The first option gets a 62.5-kWh LFP battery pack which powers a single, rear-wheel drive motor which dishes out 220 kW (295 hp). This powertrain returns a claimed range of 593 km (CLTC) on a single charge. As for performance, this version of the Model Y can clock a top speed of 201 kmph and can reach 0 to 100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.
The second option is a 78.4 kWh NMC battery pack which sends energy to a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup. The rear axle gets a 194-kW (260 hp) electric motor whereas the front axle gets a 137-kW (184 hp) unit. Together, these two motors produce a combined output of 331 kW (444 hp). This powertrain claims to return a range of 719 km on a single charge. As for performance, top speed remains the same at 201 kmph and more importantly, it can reach 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3 seconds.
2025 Tesla Model Y Features
Like the outgoing model, the new Tesla Model Y is kitted with all the bells and whistles such as 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof with a silver-plated coating, active cruise control, lane keep automatic steering, and a 16 speaker audio system. Further, buyers can opt for either the Autopilot package or the full-self driving (FSD) at an additional amount of CNY 32,000 (Rs 3.84 lakh) and CNY 64,000 (Rs 7.69 lakh).
