Lamborghini’s first SUV, the Urus has been spied testing in Denmark recently. The Urus concept was first showcased at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show and it is expected that the production of the URUS will start in April this year Lamborghini’s plant in northern Italy. The Lamborghini Urus could be launched in India in 2018 at a price tag in excess of Rs 4 crore. According to the spied image, the key design cues Urus receives will be a four-door layout, high ground clearance, and angular headlamps.
The Urus will be powered by a 4.0-litreV8, twin turbocharged petrol engine with an all wheel drive system. The power figures are not yet confirmed but it is expected that a 4.0 litre V8 engine will deliver about 600 hp of power. The Urus design will be based on the MLB platform from the Volkswagen group which underpins Audi Q7 and Bentley Bentayga. It is expected that Lamborghini might bring the Urus with hybrid technology later in its lifecycle.
Lamborghini Urus will be the third production model from the company after the Huracan and Aventador sports cars in its present lineup. The company is planning to manufacture 3,000 units of this SUV, which will significantly up the overall sales. In addition, the company is making a huge investment in their Bolognese facility to increase the facility size and to create more jobs on the production line and in Research and Development.
The Urus will go on sale in 2018, and will compete with the likes of Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
