TVS Motor registers whopping 92 percent growth in motorcycle sales in February 2018

While TVS Motor Company’s overall sales growth stood at 37 percent, the contribution from motorcycles particularly was quite large at a 92 percent hike. With the launch of the Ntorq 125, the sale of scooters will pick up even further.

TVS Motor registers whopping 92 percent growth in motorcycle sales in February 2018

TVS Motor Company has reported a growth of 37 percent in total sales registering a sale of 2,90,673 units in the month of February. Compare the figure to the same month last year and it stood at 2,11,470 units, TVS Motor Company said in a statement. What is more intriguing is that the total growth in its motorcycle segment is a whopping 92 percent. Motorcycle sales were at 1,13,296 units as compared to 58,994 units in February 2017. Scooter sales rose 35.6 percent to 93,573 units in February as against 69,020 units in the same month last year, the company said.

TVS Ntorq 125 first ride review: Convenience with a sporty character

TVS launched its most powerful motorcycle yet, the Apache 310 RR in December last year. Powered by a 312.2cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine jointly developed by BMW Motorrad and TVS, the Apache 310 RR has grown to a fair level of popularity in India. However, with a price tag of Rs. 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom), the Apache 310 RR will perhaps not add as many numbers to the sales figures as the recently launched TVS Ntorq125.

TVS Ntorq125 was launched last month and is the home-grown brand’s first ever 125cc scooter in India. It is, in fact, also one of the most feature-loaded scooters in the country. The Ntorq 125 is the first scooter in India to feature navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. Priced at Rs 58,750 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it is quite a value-for-money package when compared to the likes of Suzuki Access 125 and Honda Grazia. While the Ntorq 125’s popularity will not reflect in this month’s sale figures, we expect the scooter to catch on in the coming months, owing to its several segment first features.
