The sub-500cc segment is becoming popular globally, and with Triumph launching the 400 twins, the competition has become intense. The latest to make news in the segment is the Fantic Caballero 500, which has been updated for 2024, and will continue to be sold in three versions: Rally, Explorer and Deluxe.

The Italian motorcycle maker has retained almost every exterior detail and design from the previous model, however, the swing arm is now made of aluminium, making it lighter and stiffer. Apart from that, the motorcycle retains the retro design with the round headlight, while the unit itself is LED.

The most notable update comes in the engine department, as the motorcycle maker has given the Caballero 500 a new engine map, improving throttle response and making it smoother. The engine – a 449cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder unit that makes 39bhp and 43Nm of torque – remains unchanged.

The motorcycle retains its USD front fork setup along with a monoshock at the rear, disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS, spoke wheels, LED lighting all around, and more. The update in this area is the inclusion of a new 4-inch LCD dash with Bluetooth connectivity that notifies the rider about calls.

The Fantic Caballero 500 would be a great alternative to the Triumph Scrambler 400X, however, Fantic launching the Caballero range in India is unlikely. The company has not announced prices as well, which is expected to happen soon.
