India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp will launch three motorcycles tomorrow at an event in NCR. According to the company’s invite, the brand will launch three ‘new’ motorcycles. Express Drives got to know from a source close to the launch that the company will launch the 2018 models of Passion XPro, Passion Pro and Super Splendor. This clearly rules out the possibility that Hero MotoCorp will launch the awaited Xtreme 200S tomorrow, which some of the websites are claiming. The new 2018 Super Splendor, Passion Pro and Passion XPro will most likely feature the company’s patented i3s technology for fuel saving. Besides, there will be some style changes and new graphics on these models. More details on the bikes will be unwrapped at the launch and stay tuned with us as bring you the updates straight from the launch event.
Hero MotoCorp had discontinued as many as seven motorcycles from its India line-up in June this year. The prime reason for this was seen as unsatisfactory sales. Also, Hero MotoCorp was using the technology of its former partner Honda in some of its bikes and in order to end paying the royalty to latter, the company decided to retire such two-wheelers. The joint venture between the two auto giants came to an end in 2010.
Having operated for a few years on its own, Hero MotoCorp opened a new state-of-the-art facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan for R&D of new technology and products. Christened the Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT), the new facility is seen as a major step by the company towards its upcoming two-wheelers development strategy and it will also take care of the 300cc + high-end bikes that the brand is planning to come up with in the coming years.
