Commuters are big, bulky scooters that can be unattractive to the younger members of the family. But TVS has taken one look at this and has probably changed how a commuter should look. The new TVS Jupiter 110 brings a lot of style to a segment where practicality is key — or has it? Let’s take a detailed look.
2024 TVS Jupiter 110 — Platform and design

The new Jupiter 110 is based on a heavily tweaked platform and the same one that underpins the Jupiter 125. On the 110, it has helped save weight while being stiffer than before. The Jupiter 110 retains its under-floor fuel tank, while other components have helped reduce weight.

Apart from saving weight, the engineers went back to the drawing board to make the Jupiter look better and more appealing. This has helped and the new front design with the lightbar and headlight setup looks appealing. Adding to its overall design are the colour options, and the Dawn Blue we tested gave the scooter’s design an uplift.
2024 TVS Jupiter 110 features — Loaded to the brim

The question is where do we start? The Jupiter gets telescopic forks, alloy wheels, a disc brake at the front (for the top-spec variant), a USB charger, fuel filler in the front, hazard lights, a digital instrument cluster with phone connectivity and navigation, voice assist, a large boot to carry two half helmets, auto start-stop, self-cancelling indicators, LED lighting, emergency stop warning, and more.

All of the above are practical features one would use. The auto start-stop function needs a throttle blip, while the self-cancelling indicators will turn off after 20 seconds and after the vehicle moves a certain distance. That said, TVS has managed to integrate the voice command function with the starter switch and the hazard light switch with the indicator switch, managing to keep the switchgear uncluttered. Overall, the features come together well and do not distract the rider.
2024 TVS Jupiter 110 — Engine, ride and handling

With the reduction of weight with the frame and engine components, and tweaked suspension internals, the Jupiter 110 is a neutral handling scooter. The 7.9bhp on offer is adequate for the city and combined with the hybrid boost system, the scooter feels lively between 20 and 50 kmph.

There were considerable vibrations when idling, however, they disappeared as soon as the Jupiter was on the roll. The Jupiter has a strong mid-range and is quick to accelerate to 86kmph top speed. This limits the scooter to the city and the speed is adequate for daily commutes. Two crucial things we were unable to check were the fuel efficiency and the comfort over broken roads, which we will be able to do so when we get the scooter for a real-world test.
