It's tin-foil hat time folks! A few days ago our enigmatic PM ditched his German made BMW 7-series Security for a Range Rover for Independence day celebrations, and naturally none of us being averse to concept of hyperbole we did a short piece casually slipping in the fact that Range Rover is in fact owned by Tata motors and was previously owned by a British Company. Some sort of coded retort to all watching. Well the truth is, it may well be that complicated, or it might just be a happy coincidence, and unless someone has a chatty uncle in the SPG, we will remain none the wiser! The fact is that it was a nice sentiment. It's the right kind of show of force, an Indian president in an Indian (well, sort of) made SUV. Well if the SPG is really in the market for a secure Range Rover for Modi could have this, the Range Rover Sentinel.

The Sentinel is SVOs first official production armoured Land Rover. “Luxury, all-terrain, Fortress” is what Damien Wilson of Jaguar’s SVO called the Range Rover Sentinel. Why Fortress? Well for one the Sentinel which looks like almost any other Range Rover Autobiography. But the occupants are completely isolated from all sides by a 360 degree armour protection incase things get ugly.

Want to blow it up ? We’ll sorry bad guys of the world, the Rangie gets blast protection in all directions, and can shelter occupants from upto 15kgs of TNT explosive on the side door. SVO insist that it will still even be in rolling condition after the blast. I wonder if Land Rover would let us try it out.

Did you know that the grill on the Range Rover Sentinel, can withstand up to 7.62mm armour piercing incendiary rounds and still keep moving. Thats a sub-machine gun to the grill, hows that for Fortress. The glass is bullet proof too, and can be further customised to suit your needs.

Additionally, If you’re planning on drone dropping grenades on the roof, Range Rover has already got that covered. The Sentinel can withstand up to two DM-51 grenades dropped simultaneously on it’s roof, while keeping occupants safe and sound on the inside!

The Range Rover Sentinel is designed to look and perform just like any other run of the mill Range Rover, and it does through some SVO style fettling. It gets the biggest brakes ever fitted to a LandRover to ensure that stopping distance isn’t affected by the added armour weight. They’ve also tinkered with the suspension to improve both ride quality and handling so that evasive maneuvers can be made with ease.
