Marco Bezzecchi creates history as he bags the pole position at the Grand Prix of India at the Buddh International Circuit. The Italian continued his good form and managed to do one better as he finished second at the previous race in Misano. Jorge Martin was denied a back-to-back pole position by a fraction of 0.043 seconds and had to contend for second place. The final podium position went to the defending champion Francesco Bagnaia from Ducati.
MotoGP Bharat: Battle for pole position
It was the clash between Bezzecchi and Martin as both were trading positions in the Q2 session. The Mooney VR46 rider was the first rider to clock under 1.44 time with 1:43.9470 lap. Martin tried his best and couldn’t better Bezzecchi’s time with 1:43.9900. Bagnaia and Marini were trying to gun down the time set by Bezzecchi but only managed to finish third and fourth respectively.Â
MotoGP Bharat: Best from the rest
The pole sitter’s teammate Luca Marini from Mooney VR46 will lead the second row as he managed to keep both the Honda duo at bay. Joan Mir from HRC continued his impressive run this weekend and qualified fifth. This is the 2020 world champion’s best-ever qualifying position since he joined Repsol Honda. Honda will be relieved to see that Marc Marquez will also start from the second row behind Mir in sixth position after there was a slight scare when he suffered from a minor crash during the qualifiers.
The two Frenchmen Johan Zarco from Pramac Racing and Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo will start from seventh and eighth respectively. The Aprilia duo, Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro around the top ten.
