Just days after news broke about the Indian MotoGP being cancelled, Crash.net has reported, after getting in touch with a source close to the promoters. A few days ago, there was news saying that the BharatGP has been replaced with Kazakhstan, after the Indian promoter, Fairstreet, was yet to pay up.
Now, as per a PTI report, the CEO of Fairstreet, Pushkar Nath Srivastava, stated, “The race is very much on. These are just rumours floating around. All of the contractual obligations will be met in June.”
Reports indicate that Dorna has received written confirmation from the state government that the payments will be made as soon as the ‘Model Code of Conduct’ on the spending of public money is lifted on June 4, owing to the ongoing general elections.
The Indian round of MotoGP, or the BharatGP, is scheduled to take place on September 20-22, at the Buddh International Circuit, where it was held last year as well.
