French MotoGP: It’s a Ducati 1-2-3 finish with Martin on the lead

The French MotoGP was motorcycle racing at its best with an intense battle for first between three Ducati riders, while Marquez takes another podium. That said, the nail-biting race also saw a number of big names crash out. 

French MotoGP: The race

The start of the French GP saw the factory Ducati team storm into the lead but current championship leader, Jorge Martin quickly took the second spot right behind defending champion Pecco Bagnaia, where the battle continued till the finishing laps. 

However, the rider who made serious progress was Marc Marquez, who quickly advanced from 13th place to third, after an intense battle with Aprilia’s Vinales. However, Marquez’s plan was not to stay there as with five corners to go, the Spaniard saw the gap and moved ahead of Bagnaia to second, who lost the position to Martin a few laps ago. 

French MotoGP: The crashes

While the focus was on the top three riders for the entirety of the race, there were a number of incidents behind them. The first was Gas Gas’ Acosta, who made his first mistake of the season on lap 2 and crashed out, dropping him further down the overall leaderboard. 

Lap 3 of the race saw Bezzecchi crash out, followed by Honda’s Joan Mir with 12 laps to go in the race. A lap later, Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo crashes, after making his way to sixth place.
