Honda Activa: The most successful scooter in India that has been in production for more than 15 years now and now for a while has become the most sold two-wheeler in the domestic market. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) sold a total of 335,595 units of Honda Activa (all variants combined) last month. Honda Activa 4G and Honda Activa i is powered by a 110 cc engine and produces a power of 8 bhp and 8.94 Nm of torque. Honda Activa 125 is the most powerful variant in the Activa line-up and gets a 125 cc engine. Honda Activa price ranges from Rs 48,059 – 61,361 (ex-Delhi).

Hero Splendor: Growing by over 5% YoY, Hero Splendor recorded total domestic sales of 242,431 units in the month of August as against 229,061units sold in August 2016. Currently Hero Motorcorp has four different variants of Hero Splendor on sale priced between Rs 48,759 – 55,575 (ex-Delhi). Over the years the company has introduced several variants and special editions of Hero Splendor and the company has been the top-selling motorcycles for a year now. The motorcycle has managed to appeal both urban and rural audience. Earlier in May 2017, the company discontinued the Hero Splendor Classic from its portfolio. The cafe racer style commuter motorcycle did not see a BS-IV variant.

Hero HF Deluxe: The entry level commuter segment has also seen an increase in sales last month. Hero Motocorp sold a total of 161,177 units of its HF Deluxe variants in the Indian market. Hero HF Deluxe i3S was the latest addition to the Deluxe family and is probably the most sold motorcycle in the rural market. It features a trapezoidal multi-reflector headlight and 5-spoke alloy wheels. The base variant of Hero HF Deluxe is positioned below the Splendor in Hero’s commuter segment and is priced at Rs 43,316 and the top-variant Hero HF Deluxe Eco is priced at 47,134 (ex-Delhi).

Honda CB Shine: Honda’s most successful model after the Activa is the 125 cc motorcycle Honda CB Shine. HMSI sold a total of 94,748 units of CB Shine in August 2017 as against 63,606 units sold in August 2016. The motorcycle jumped three places in ranking to 4th place in the top-ten ranking. The 125 cc engine on the CB Shine sheds a maximum power of 10.16 bhp and 10.3 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-Speed gearbox .

Hero Passion: From what Hero claims that its Passion commuter series is a perfect blend of style and performance. Hero Passion pro bagged the fifth place in domestic sales chart by selling 93,003 units in August 2017. The company has also introduced its patent i3s technology on the Hero Passion Pro. The motorcycle is now available with self-start and the top-variant gets disc brakes and costs Rs 52,244 (ex-Delhi).

TVS XL Super: TVS XL Super moped manufactured my TVS Motor Company has been in top-10 selling motorcycles for some time now. The company claims it has over one million customers now. In the month of August the company sold a total of 81,919 units of its TVS XL moped. Currently, there are two-variants of the moped on sale.

TVS Jupiter: The second scooter to make it top-10 selling two-wheelers in the month of August is the TVS Jupiter. The scooter saw a monthly sale of 81,277 units, almost up by 30,000 units from a year ago. Modern looks, good built quality and a claimed mileage of 68 kmpl are some key selling points of this scooter. The 110 cc engine is mated to a CVT gearbox and offers a smooth ride. TVS Jupiter also gets external fuel fill, and 17 L storage space beneath the seat.

Hero Glamour: Slowly making its way to the top, new Hero Glamour made its market debut earlier this year and saw a sale of 80,106 units in the month of August 2017. The bike features both analogue and digital instrument cluster. It gets a new 125 cc engine and is priced at a starting price of Rs 56,522 (Ex-Delhi).

Bajaj Pulsar: Bajaj Pulsar has been the most common and popular sportbike built by Bajaj so far. The brand Pulsar has the most crucial and important products in the company’s line-up which has it has been expanding on a regular bases since last 15 years.. Bajaj sold a total of 58,795 units of Pulsars last month overtaking the Royal Enfield 350 and TVS Apace series that saw monthly sales of 45,555 and 31,502 units respectively. Bajaj has seven motorcycles under the Pulsar brand ranging from 135 cc on the Bajaj Pulsar 135 to 200 cc on Bajaj Pulsar RS 200. The price ranges from Rs 61,6645 to 1.23 lakh.

Bajaj CT 100: Bajaj CT100 is the most reasonable commuter segment motorcycle on sale and was reintroduced in the market in 2016. Bajaj costs Rs 33,216 (Ex-Delhi) and gets a 97.2 cc engine. The company has sold over 50 lakh units of this commuter motorcycle. In August 2017, Bajaj sold a total of 57,561 units of Bajaj CT 100 as against 44,599 units in August 2016.
