Coimbatore-based Srivaru Motors have come up with their all-electric streetfighter – Prana. The electric bike is currently available in the Southern part of India through a total of 14 dealerships. The brand has quite aggressive expansion plans as it aims to enter multiple cities across the length and breadth of the country soon. We recently rode the Prana and here we explain the bike through some pictures.
-
Upfront, the SVM Prana gets a powerful quad LED projector headlamp set up and the same offers fantastic illumination in the dark. Also, the front gets a low and hunkered down stance, all thanks to which the Prana looks aggressive, desiarable and sporty.
-
The instrument cluster on the SVM Prana is an all-digital LCD unit and it offers readouts for speed, odometer, remaining battery level, clock and also comes with a tripmeter. Moreover, there is a tachometer-styled LED strip that starts to glow towards the right as you speed up.
-
The left side of the handlebar gets a ring with the help of which you can toggle through four riding modes – Reverse, Parking, Drive and Sport. Needless to say, our favourite is the Sport Mode in which the bike offers crazy acceleration and hits a top speed of 123 kmph. The bike engages into ride mode with the help of the 'engine kill switch' that you see on the right side.
-
The front gets dual disc brakes and these offer decent stopping power. The bite and the feedback isn't exceptionally sharp but that is a good thing because the bike lacks an ABS. However, it do comes with a CBS that basically applies both brakes automatically when you press just the rear brake lever.
-
SVM Prana comes with 72V, 7.2 kW lithium-ion battery and the same can be charged anywhere through a regular 15A socket. On a normal charge, the battery takes around 4 hour 15 minutes to get completely charged. The company also offers an optional fast charger with the electric bike but isn't recommending the same as it reduces the charging cycles of the battery.
-
On a single full charge, the SVM Prana is claimed to offer a range of 126 km. The said claim seems to be true as during our test runs, the electric bike covered over 70 km with 50 percent battery charge remaining. We will soon be bringing a detailed first ride review of the SVM Prana, so keep watching this space!
