The year 2019 is turning out to be quite a revolution in electrification of automobiles and motorcycles are also a part of the movement. The thing about electric motorcycles is that the design can be extremely radical since there is no need for a fuel tank. But we just found one that wants to stick to a motorcycle design from the yesteryear.

It is called Zeus Radial V8 and as the name suggests, it does have a V8 powertrain. Well, sort of. So, it is an all-electric motorcycle but the battery pack has been designed in V8 format. It has been built by a small motorcycle shop in Alabama called Curtiss.

Jordan Cornille, who built the Radial V8, says that the cylindrical battery arrangement isn't just for show, but it also helps in better cooling efficiency. It sure doesn't look like a very aerodynamic method for cooling, but it would provide the battery cells with ventilation.

Powertrain for the Zeus Radial V8 was built in partnership with an Oxford-based engineering company called YASA which specialises in electric motors. As a result, the 'V8' powertrain produces 217 hp and 199 Nm of torque. Battery capacity is 16.8 kWh at 399V.

Zeus Radial V8 hails back to the machine that was originally ridden by engineer Glenn Curtiss over a century ago, a V8 motorcycle that was capable of reaching 218 km/h in 1907. The Radial V8 will be one of the most expensive motorcycles you can purchase with a price tag of about $75,000 (approximately Rs 51.6 lakh). Production begins next year.
